How to Make it WERK in 2009!

How These People Made it Happen in 2008

at the Next I dO Music

Ray Daniels (Manager, Rock City)

Ray is at the head of the new class of industry leaders. In 2007 Ray has taken Rock City from local stars to the music industry's most anticipated artists and songwriters for 2008. Ray has also taken the artist manager position and parlayed it into an A&R position with Universal where he is aiding the label's chief executive Sylvia Rhone in the development of the companies artists and projects. He is also the Creator and Executive Producer of the highly anticipated, powerful and insightful film "Who Killed Hip Hop" and has also become Co-Author of a new book about the music industry.

B.Rich (Manager, B.O.B.)

B.RICH’s name is definitely one that is as familiar as the words “grindin” and “networkin”. In 2003 Brich teamed up with Alfonzo Maze of Amazin Productions and started doing open mics, hiring now ATL widely known Akini tha Black Mac to host. The 3 enjoyed quick success, but as we all know happens quite often in the music biz, decided to go their separate ways after little more than a year. But B-RICH entertainment was off and running, and now with just 3 yrs under its belt is one the leading underground entertainment houses in Atlanta. Branching in many directions, the entertainment company has become affiliated with Ga Durt, which host members such as Bohagan and Playboy Tre, and has also formed a partnership with northern based Defiant Records which is headed by Warner Music’s Greg Calloway, and the duo together are working on up and coming artist Willie Joe who is creating a huge buz in the Atlanta underground music market.

Fort Knox & Big Tah (Strong Arm Management)

Strong Arm Management is an artist management, marketing and promotions company formed by Big Tah and Fort Knox in 2006. Both have been managing artists collectively for over 10 years. Their experience and knowledge of the music industry has enabled them to work with both independent and major acts such as up and coming emcee Stanza and Capitol Records artist Willie Joe. Their tasks range from networking with DJ’s and record execs to setting up collaborations with other artists as well as producers for their clients.  From a marketing and promotions standpoint, Strong Arm Management not only markets and promotes their artists but also events such as Tru Skool Tuesday and Producer's Swap Meet.

Senor Kaos (Rising Entrepreneur)

It's hard to describe what Señor Kaos actually does for a living without using a bunch of slashes. Let's see, Emcee -slash- Marketer -slash- Street Promoter -slash-Host –slash- Tastemaker –slash- Consultant, okay you get the idea.

Recap:

I dO Music November 2008

November's I dO Music brought out the best of the local music community. Apache was packed with industry heavyweights and powerhouses who mixed and mingled with independents on the brink. The dichotomy in the room provided the perfect environment for solid netwerking and breakout performances.

Our theme for the night was Werking Your DJs. Class was in session as DJ Herb (V-103), DJ Cowboy (V-103) and DJ Trauma (Hot 107.9) all kept it "100" during the acclaimed I dO Music panel.

The night's showcase highlighted talent from all across the country. Young Lyxx brought Cali to Apache with his West Coast sound. Representing North Carolina, The Internationalz stayed true to their Hip Hop roots with their eclectic old school sounds. And Kelly Love Jones had the crowd going wild for her skills on the acoustic guitar intertwined with her urban melodic tunes. The night's features included Capitol Records' Dukes Da'ville and recent 106 and Park winners Heed. Click here for video footage of the night's event!

The whole city is lit with excitement on every first Thursday of the month. The independent music scene has finally found a spot to learn, netwerk, promote, and perform and it all goes down every at Apache Cafe. Come see where stars are born and knowledge is abundant; It's all at PatchWerk Recording Studios' I dO Music. We'll see you on December 4th!
